Reach the Sahara in a single day on this private 2-day desert tour from Marrakech to Zagora. Because the vehicle is yours alone, the itinerary bends to you: linger at the ksar, add Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate, or shorten the camel ride for children. The price covers the private air-conditioned vehicle, the driver-guide, both camel treks and the camp with dinner and breakfast, and it drops per person as your group grows. You are back in Marrakech in the late afternoon of day 2.

Pickup from your riad or hotel in Marrakech in a private, air-conditioned vehicle, with your own driver-guide for the two days. Departure is between 7:00 to 7:30 am, and the exact pickup time is confirmed the day before.
The road turns southeast into the High Atlas Mountains, climbing past Berber villages and walnut groves to the Tizi n'Tichka pass at 2,260 m, the highest road in North Africa. Because the vehicle is yours, every viewpoint is a possible stop. Descend to the UNESCO-listed ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, cross the riverbed and climb to the granary for the full panorama. A local guide is available on site for about 3 EUR. Continue through Ouarzazate, then over the Tizi n'Tinififft pass and down into the Draa Valley at Agdz, where hundreds of thousands of date palms line the river beneath Jbel Kissane. Lunch along the way is not included.
Arrive in Zagora in the late afternoon and meet your camels. The sunset trek lasts about an hour, and can be shortened on request for younger children, as the light turns from gold to deep purple over the desert. Your Berber desert camp welcomes you with mint tea and a private tent. Dinner is a traditional tagine, followed by drumming around the fire under some of Morocco's clearest night skies.
Rise before dawn for the sunrise camel ride, when the desert is silent and the first light spreads across the dunes. Back at camp, a Moroccan breakfast of fresh bread, msemen, jam and coffee. The Draa Valley looks greener in morning light on the way north. In Ouarzazate, visit the Taourirt Kasbah, the former Glaoui stronghold with its painted cedar ceilings, and add Atlas Film Studios if you wish, something the private format makes easy. Cross the High Atlas one final time and arrive back in Marrakech in the late afternoon, with drop-off at your hotel or riad.

From 100 EUR per person for groups of 14 to 17, and 230 EUR per person for two travellers. The price per person falls as the group grows, because you share one private vehicle and one driver-guide. Every price includes the camp with dinner and breakfast, both camel treks, and hotel pickup and drop-off.
About 360 km, roughly 7 hours of driving with stops. That is why Zagora works as a 2-day trip while Merzouga needs three: it is the closest desert to Marrakech.
Zagora is a rocky desert with smaller dunes, reachable in one day of driving. Merzouga has the tall golden dunes of Erg Chebbi but requires a 3-day tour. If you only have two days, Zagora gives you the real desert night without the extra day on the road.
